The opening
ceremony
The opening ceremony of
the 2012 Summer Olympic Games took
place on the evening of Friday 27 July in the Olympic Stadium, London. It
was watched by an estimated worldwide television audience of 900 million, becoming the most-viewed Olympic
opening ceremony in
both the UK and US. Within the
ceremony it featured children and young people in most of its segments,
reflecting the 'inspire a generation' aspiration of London's original bid for
the Games.
UK quite
diverse
Within the
opening ceremony many people would agree that London was represented diverse
and multi-cultural area. An example of this is due to the people that were
taking part in the ceremony. For example there was a whit female mother, getting
out of the patriotic coloured and designed mini with her mixed raced child. The
next thing that was shown was the rest of the family when the cameras were entering
within the home. The audience were then shown the family, everyone within the house
were shown as being happy a normal stereotypical family.
A theory that would link with this is Fanon’s mask theory.
The theory that Fanon believes is the society people would need to wear a mask
to fit in and be a part of society. They aren't able to be themselves within
society as that would lead to conflict. A way in which this was done is for
example within the Daily Mail article. For example Fanon suggest and believes
that there are no actual family in London. For example he believes that that there
are no genuine families.
Another theory is that Alvardo says that four key themes. For example his theory suggest that black people are stereotyped within the media. The four things that they are stereotyped is exotic, humorous, dangerous or pitied.
