1) What is Pareto's Law? Sum it up in a paragraph.

Pareto's law is known as the 80-20 rule. This was started for example 80% effects comes from the 20% of cause. Business-management consultant Joseph M. Juran suggested the principle and named it after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed in 1906 that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population; Pareto developed the principle by observing that 20% of the pea pods in his garden contained 80% of the peas.

2) What other industries or examples can you apply the 80/20 rule to?

The 80-20 rule can be used in many industries, for example it is used in business
- 80% of a company's profits come from 20% of its customers
- 80% of a company's complaints come from 20% of its customers
- 80% of a company's profits come from 20% of the time its staff spend
- 80% of a company's sales come from 20% of its products
- 80% of a company's sales are made by 20% of its sales staff

3) List three arguments in FAVOUR of Pareto's Law applying to the internet:
- twitter owns vines

- Google owns blogger
- Google owns youtube
4) List three arguments AGAINST Pareto's Law applying to the internet:

- twitter don't own the tweets
- blogger doesn't own the blogs
- tumbler don't own the blog posts
Finally, answer the following question:

5) Even if Pareto's Law applies to internet ownership, does it still apply to the content we read online?

Article

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/diving/10487809/Tom-Daley-reveals-he-is-in-a-relationship-with-a-man-in-frank-YouTube-video-from-Olympic-diver.html

For this task I have chosen the Tom Daley article. The reason for this is he is a role mode or society, he's in the public eye. That is why I think I was attracted to this article as he talks about his sexuality. This is a extremely hard thing to do and is an inspiration to young people that look up to him and see his a role model. Within Thai article tom talks about how he's bisexual,  meaning that he find both men and women attractive. Tom said this by making a video, within this video he state how he is now in a relationship with a man.

Top Boy

Watching top boy, we were show the first five minutes of the first ever episode. Within the opening there are many representations for example both positive and negative of the people portrayed. The people within top boy are young people as that is what the characters are representing themselves as.  Examples of this in top boy are the way the characters are dressed. This is the first thing that the audience see is their clothing. This gives a negative effect on young people and the way they dress. The two young youths that are presented within top boy are dressed in the school uniform. However this is not been worn in the correct way, for example the characters tie were not worn properly as they were hanging down as well as their shirts not being tucked into their trousers. By having characters that dress in this way this shows that they don’t care about their appearance as they are give off a scruffy look whereas they should be presenting themselves in a way that   represent the school in a positive light. They should do this by dressing professionally wearing their uniform in the correct manor.  With the first five minutes there are also positive things that are shown in top boy. For example when both characters arrive home, one immediately looks for his mother. This shows that the child cares for his mother and shows that he is worried about her where about. When the child realises that she isn't home him and his friend both wait at home, hoping that she will turn up soon. The child tells his friend that he can go home, however the friend decides to wait with him this shows that he wants to make sure his friend is okay and doesn't feel like he doesn't care.

Daliy Mail's article about the Olympic Ceremony

The opening ceremony
The opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games took place on the evening of Friday 27 July in the Olympic Stadium, London.  It was watched by an estimated worldwide television audience of 900 million, becoming the most-viewed Olympic opening ceremony in both the UK and US. Within the ceremony it featured children and young people in most of its segments, reflecting the 'inspire a generation' aspiration of London's original bid for the Games.

UK quite diverse
Within the opening ceremony many people would agree that London was represented diverse and multi-cultural area. An example of this is due to the people that were taking part in the ceremony. For example there was a whit female mother, getting out of the patriotic coloured and designed mini with her mixed raced child. The next thing that was shown was the rest of the family when the cameras were entering within the home. The audience were then shown the family, everyone within the house were shown as being happy a normal stereotypical family.

A theory that would link with this is Fanon’s mask theory. The theory that Fanon believes is the society people would need to wear a mask to fit in and be a part of society. They aren't able to be themselves within society as that would lead to conflict. A way in which this was done is for example within the Daily Mail article. For example Fanon suggest and believes that there are no actual family in London. For example he believes that that there are no genuine families.

Another theory is that Alvardo says that four key themes. For example his theory suggest that black people are stereotyped within the media. The four things that they are stereotyped is exotic, humorous, dangerous or pitied.

LR Exam Question

WWW-  Some excellent point, the first half was strong with good use of theory.
EBI- last paragraph weaker and the the section on Butler I think you could have pushed further to reach the top grades.
LR- How could you have used Bulter more? What other theorise could you have brought in?

Butler believes that gender roles aren't biologically fixed, they are socially constructed. An example of this that i could have used is for example the VMA's. At the VMA's their was a performance that cause a lot of questions for audiences  For example this performance was of Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus. For example teh way she was dressed and the way in which she was dancing.

Perato's Law (A)

On the internet their are a large amount of companies, these companies provide information and share things to the public. There's not just one company their is a variety of them meaning that their are different types of information that will be provided. For example one thing against this would be; many to many people through communication, for example one institution has YouTube however the stuff on their is generated my the people. Even though its produced by one institution its shows that their is different types of information that is provided to people.
