Top Boy

Watching top boy, we were show the first five minutes of the first ever episode. Within the opening there are many representations for example both positive and negative of the people portrayed. The people within top boy are young people as that is what the characters are representing themselves as.  Examples of this in top boy are the way the characters are dressed. This is the first thing that the audience see is their clothing. This gives a negative effect on young people and the way they dress. The two young youths that are presented within top boy are dressed in the school uniform. However this is not been worn in the correct way, for example the characters tie were not worn properly as they were hanging down as well as their shirts not being tucked into their trousers. By having characters that dress in this way this shows that they don’t care about their appearance as they are give off a scruffy look whereas they should be presenting themselves in a way that   represent the school in a positive light. They should do this by dressing professionally wearing their uniform in the correct manor.  With the first five minutes there are also positive things that are shown in top boy. For example when both characters arrive home, one immediately looks for his mother. This shows that the child cares for his mother and shows that he is worried about her where about. When the child realises that she isn't home him and his friend both wait at home, hoping that she will turn up soon. The child tells his friend that he can go home, however the friend decides to wait with him this shows that he wants to make sure his friend is okay and doesn't feel like he doesn't care.
